Reflection
While creating this list I really had to think about what is important to not only me right now, but what I want for my future. My accomplishments span from things that will improve my health, my grades, my love life, my work life and my financial life. After creating this list I realized that there is so much that I want to do in the next year. However, it is impossible to be great at twenty five things, so I am going to have to slim down my list to 5 accomplishments that will become my priority list.
The Priority List
-
Profit $30,000 from businesses
-
Get an internship
-
Stay sober (marijuana)
-
Grow closer with my long distance girlfriend
SMART Goals
-
In order to profit $30,000 in the next year from my partners and I businesses each day starting on November 1st I will create a list of three things a day that need improved and do them that day by 8:00pm.
-
In order to get an internship starting on November 1st I will find a new company each week that I want to have an internship at, contact an employee on linkedIn and email them my resume.
-
In order to stay sober from marijuana this year starting on November 1st every week I will reflect and journal about how productive and enjoying my week was without marijuana.
-
In order to grow closer to my girlfriend this year starting on November 1st I will plan one date night each month where the entire night is dedicated to spending time with my girlfriend.
Reflection
Having to make my list of accomplishments smaller was kind of sad and frustrating for me just because there is so much I want to do in the next year. However, after thinking about it hard, I realized it was necessary for three reasons. The first reason is that some of these accomplishments did not align with my goals (respect, love, competition, adventure, curiosity). The second reason is that some of these set me up for the future I want and are almost prerequisites for my other goals. Therefore, I had to cut all but five of my accomplishments. The final reason, as I mentioned earlier, is that it is impossible to be great at twenty-five things, and I even cut my list down to four accomplishments because personally, I think I can only be great at four things. Therefore, I ended up cutting my fifth accomplishment (figuring out what I wanted to do after school). After creating my priority list, I decided to create SMART goals for all of my accomplishments in order to help me achieve these goals in the next year. Starting November 1st, I will begin following my SMART goals in order to better myself and set myself up for my future.
